PowerCards

(Elsevier Hacks 2017 and Elsevier Hacks Incubation Programme 2018)

PowerCards was our solution for the Elsevier Hacks 2017, a 48-hour event that brought 16 medical students from across the world together with programmers and designers to solve challenges in medical education. It was held on August 25-27, 2017 in Helsinki.

This solution won for our team the 3rd place award which also earned us an invitation to take part in Elsevier's Global Incubation Programme. My role for the incubation programme is as Chief Operating Officer and Head of Design.

My work for the project includes:

  • User research

  • Workshop facilitation

  • UX/UI design and prototyping

  • User testing

  • Communication

Method: User-Centered Design

Tools: Adobe Xd, Sketch, Pixtoon

The Challenge: The sheer volume of information presented to medical students can be overwhelming. One of the biggest challenges for students is being aware of what to study and when. Add to this the growing expectation for students to manage their own learning with a large portion of their schedule allocated to self-directed study. Help medical students plan, monitor and evaluate their learning so they are in control of their learning and they know when they have the relevant level of understanding or have achieved the right level of mastery for that topic.
